Your boutique Biohotel in South Tyrol

Teaming up with nature – an organic approach to preserving what we love

To truly appreciate nature is to know how irreplaceable it is. Those who do, are not content with resting in its quietness. Instead, they draw inspiration from its immeasurable power. Honour it. By living life consciously, and taking on the challenges of our time. They step up for a better world. Consistently and persistently. This is what spending a sustainable holiday in South Tyrol should be all about: a tribute to nature. Mindful, certified organic, and climate-friendly.

A story of courage and consistency

From an eco-friendly hotel to a biohotel

It just felt right. That’s why we chose to develop our vision for a sustainable, certified-organic hotel, nurturing it with care and gratitude. We have learnt a lot since the beginning of this journey in 2011, when we converted the old Gitschberg into a climate-certified hotel. The environment, eco-friendly architecture, renewable energy and regional cycles were important to us from the very beginning. Then, step by step, we expanded our concept and made new changes – big and small. In terms of things, processes and values, and always informed by the philosophy that inspires all aspects of our life. Finally, in 2021 we took things one step further along our path: Gitschberg became a boutique eco-hotel. Looking back, we now know that courage doesn’t always make things easy, but it’s always worth it! In this spirit, we continue writing our story, one chapter at a time.

Gitschberg is a boutique eco-hotel in South Tyrol where simplicity is valued. But so are all things good, special and beautiful. With 40 rooms, it is small enough for a home-from-home feeling, but large enough to shape your holiday the way you want it to be. For a very individual, personal experience. A place of heartfelt, soulful connection. A place to love.

The ClimaHotel® quality seal

To us, receiving the ClimaHotel® seal from the South Tyrolean KlimaHaus agency is both rewarding and motivating. Not only does it prove our bond with nature and indispensable commitment to the environment, it also shows our transparent economic development through energy-efficient design, natural materials and use of local resources, foods and high-quality farm produce.

The Bio Fair Südtirol seal by Bioland®

Organic and locally sourced – that’s how we like it. The Bio Fair Südtirol seal from Bioland® bears witness to how reliably, unequivocally sustainable our organic cuisine is. We have achieved silver status, meaning that we are able to source around 80% of our produce from organic cultivation. It also means that we are part of a community built around the shared values of transparency, healthy nutrition and conscious quality choices, with a focus on the best interests of people, animals and the environment.

Manuela Zischg, Bio Fair Südtirol by Bioland

“Gitschberg was one of the first hotels in South Tyrol to believe in Bioland’s Bio Fair Südtirol project and to implement it rigorously, sourcing almost 80% of our products from organic farming.“

Boundless freedom.
Nature as a source of happiness

1,400 metres above the daily grind, where true luxury is revealed in simplicity and vastness, in silence and closeness to nature. The unobstructed vista over the peaks of the Dolomites. The slower pace as you immerse yourself in the scents of the forest, the colours of Alpine flowers, and the heart-warming song of birds.
