Cancellation policy and travel insurance

We know: sometimes, life gets in the way!

WE ONLY ACCEPT RESERVATIONS THAT ARE COVERED BY VALID TRAVEL CANCELLATION INSURANCE.

If you complete your booking without travel cancellation insurance, you tacitly agree to our cancellation policy and agree to bear any costs that may arise. Please be aware that cancellation insurance is requisite for rescheduling your booking at short notice free of charge.

The Italian Consumer Protection Code (Law No. 206-2005, art. 45-67) does not provide for the right of withdrawal on hotel bookings. Nevertheless, we allow cancellations under the following terms:

  • Up until 30 days before arrival, cancellation is free of charge
  • 30 to 15 days before arrival, we charge 50% of the booking price
  • Bookings cancelled in the last 14 days before arrival are charged in full.
  • No deductions are granted in the event of late arrival, early departure or no-show.

Travel cancellation insurance

Better safe!

Taking out travel cancellation insurance is the best way to enjoy the anticipation with complete peace of mind! Europäische Reiseversicherung (ERV) is our long-standing, trusted partner. Enquire at the time of booking: we will provide all the information about the policy options.

If you are insured through your credit card provider, please make sure that you are adequately covered: often, this type of insurance only covers the cardholder, but not their family.

FAQ – answering the important questions

When is Boutique Biohotel Gitschberg open?

We’ll be ready for the winter season from 21 December 2024 to 9 March 2025. The opening season begins on 11 July 2025 and also includes the fall until 1 November 2025.

What does “boutique eco-hotel” mean, and how many rooms are there?

With just 40 guestrooms, Gitschberg is a relatively small hotel offering a homely atmosphere with lots of privacy, paired with unique design, cordial service and organic foods and products to the highest quality standards. All this gives Gitschberg its distinctive character, making it a boutique eco-hotel.

When can I check in?

The room you reserve is available from 3 pm on the day of arrival. You are welcome to arrive earlier and take in the view and the Gitschberg atmosphere in the stylish lounge, on the panorama terrace or in the Fenilia Spa while you wait to check in.

When is checkout? Can I check out later?

On the day of departure, we kindly ask you to vacate your room by 11 am, but you are welcome to use the pool area until 1 pm. Alternatively, you may want to extend your holiday with our Day Spa package (€35 per person), which grants you access to the spa until 7 pm and includes a basket of soft bathrobes and bath towels, as well as our delicious Gitschberg Marende from 3 to 5 pm.

Can I come by train?

This is actually a great idea! If you do, we’ll be delighted to offer you free transfer from and to Franzensfeste railway station. Additionally, with the Almencard you will receive on arrival you can use public transport for free across South Tyrol, including regional trains from Brenner. If you need fuss-free, reliable shipping for your luggage, we recommend Insam Express.

Can I recharge my electric car at Gitschberg?

Of course! For guests travelling to South Tyrol in an electric car, we offer four garage spaces with their own charging stations – which we recommend reserving at the time of booking. The charging fee is €0.40 per kWh. For an overview of public charging stations for Tesla and other electric cars throughout South Tyrol, visit Greenmobility.

Is Gitschberg a good choice for families with children?

At Gitschberg, different generations come together to share a great time. While we love to hear children’s laughter, we also set great store by honouring every guest’s need and desire for precious rest and relaxation.

Are there barrier-free options?

Naturally, we are happy to cater for guests with limited mobility. However, we should point out that Gitschberg has developed from an older building and is therefore not entirely barrier-free. We have two lifts for easier access, and room categories such as Gassla, Milla, Felda, Holza and Hofa are very spacious and feature walk-in showers. Our panoramic pool, on the other hand, is accessed via a classic ladder.

Are dogs welcome?

Biohotel Gitschberg is a humans-only establishment. If you wish to spend your holiday with your dog, we will be happy to help you find suitable accommodation that meets your wishes and your four-legged friend’s needs.

What facilities are available for my electric bike?

If you are bringing your own electric bike, you’re welcome to store it in our safe deposit and recharge it for free. We have a small repair station on site, and Rent-A-Sport for professional bike service is just 300 metres from our hotel.

Do you cater for food allergies and intolerances?

Yes, at Gitschberg you are free to enjoy fine dining without having to worry about dietary allergies or intolerances! Our kitchen brigade are well trained in planning gluten-free and lactose-free menus. For other food intolerances, minor alterations to our daily specials are usually all that is required. Please bear in mind that advance notification is essential for us to cater to your dietary requirements. If desired, we can also tailor a special menu for you, at an extra charge.

Do you offer vegan and vegetarian options?

We have an all-encompassing approach to life geared towards all that is healthy and  sustainable. So, vegetarian cuisine is a feather in our cap at Biohotel Gitschberg, with fresh, fine compositions that taste of nature. Vegan options are available at breakfast and dinner with minor menu adjustments.

What can I leave at home?

In your guestroom you will find fragrant all-natural toiletries such as stone-pine soap, shower gel and body lotion. We also provide bathrobes, a wellness basket with towels and other essentials, hairdryer, hiking rucksack, yoga mat, shoehorn, hiking poles, snowshoes and spikes to borrow, as well as an inspiring selection of books and magazines.

Things you need to put in your suitcase: slippers for the pool, sunglasses, a bottle to fill with our mountain spring water and… lots of enthusiasm for your upcoming holiday!
